I have been fortunate enough to have met Corina Mack as a hospitality colleague over 20 years ago. As she transitioned out of day-to-day restaurant operations and into a role of placing talented candidates in challenging roles, it has remained very clear to me that her passion for understanding people, her superlative listening skills, and her determination to do the best work possible has made our industry a better and more capable place to practice our vocation. Earlier this year, I began my search for a job after being out due to medical reasons for almost two years. I worked on my resume and began my search through a few of the many job search sites. Over 80 applications went out and a handful of interviews came out of it, but I would either get the rejection e-mail or was offered a wage that wouldn’t be able to sustain me. I’m great at my field but not so much at selling myself to potential employers. I applied for a position represented by Patrice & Associates, and John Gatewood called me to discuss the position.
