Testimonial – Matchmaking
It is an unprecedented and challenging time in the Restaurant Industry. Between Covid-19 safety protocols, vaccine regulations, and a labor market turned upside down- this is certainly an interesting time to be a restaurant owner or employee.
But this story starts back in 2018, back when “corona” was a beer and facemasks were for doctors and construction workers. I began interacting and speaking with the owner of an independent restaurant in Boston. Over the following years, we connected once in a while to chat about the industry and business. There were plans to work together to help the restauranteur expand their business. Then Covid-19 happened, and the restaurant, along with most of the industry, shut down. It was not until well into 2021 did plans start coming together to hire again for this particular restaurant, though this time those plans were about reopening and ramping business back up.
While the original job openings were 2 very different and distinct positions, during the course of the search a candidate was found that had a skillset that spanned both those roles. Following through on a “gut feeling”, I pitched the candidate to the client as a unique prospect. The matchmaking was a success, and the candidate was hired to help reopen the restaurant and bring the business into the post-Covid future.
The candidate, Fred, has this to say about the process:
Frank Rondeau created an excellent customer service experience! On paper the clients and my requirements were not a match. Frank’s ability to create a match by identifying unrealized commonalities was remarkable. I recommend working with Frank as a value proposition for all parties.
-Fred F., Operations Manager
Thinking outside of the box and making a match that accomplishes the goals of candidate and client alike are the mark of a great recruiter. Years of experience in the industry have taught me how to identify what is most important, and how to find solutions- even in the most challenging of labor markets!
