Testimonial – “Exciting Next Chapter”

It will come as no surprise to those in the hospitality industry, but working with people, in general terms, can often times be quite difficult. As recruiters, our business is people, connecting job seekers with job openings and companies with employees. When you have been in the business as long as I have, you develop a sort of sixth sense when speaking with candidates and clients. You know what jobs and companies fit which personality types, work ethics, and goals. And on some occasions, you have perfect clarity. You know from the very first conversation with a candidate that you a) have the perfect job for them, and b) that they are going to get hired.

When speaking with Elaine, a great restaurant manager and passionate hospitality professional, I knew very quickly that she and a local restaurant client of ours were a perfect match. I remember thinking “if she reliably shows up to these interviews and can just be herself, she’s going to get hired”. While I was sure of this, the reliability and dependability of people is something outside my control. But, Elaine did not disappoint! We spoke at all of our scheduled times, she aced every interview with flying colors, and she got the job just as I knew she would!

So when a solid and dependable candidate like Elaine comes along, the entire process becomes refreshingly fun and rewarding. The reason I got into this business was to make a living by helping employees and employers connect. While I view this profession as a somewhat noble pursuit, it sometimes can be exhausting and disappointing.
