Position Overview & Responsibilities

  • Achieve restaurant unit financial plan, including P&L and inventory management.
  • Model superior Guest service skills for all staff to follow.
  • Manage the team to ensure that not only is their job performed properly, but also they are managed in a positive manner that results in a great guest experience.
  • Drive profitability of the restaurant through positive management of food and labor.
  • Ensure all people and profit systems are utilized on a consistent basis.
  • Handle Guest concerns “right here and now.” Each Guest transaction must be handled in a way that spreads our reputation in a positive manner.
  • Ensure the Guest Promise is being followed by every crew member on every shift.
  • Responsible for the overall development and evaluation of team members.
  • Constantly scout and hire great talent; continuously recognize and develop this talent.
  • On-boarding and training of newly hired team members.
  • Handle all employee relations issues including discipline and documentation.
  • Ensures open communication and understanding with the Director of Operations
  • Promotes and instills company's management philosophies and operational standards
  • Prepares for and leads a weekly manager meeting
  • Works with the Operations Manager and the Director of Training and Development during the process of hiring, training and development of all managers and staff
  • Coaches, mentors, develops and supports managers and staff in their efforts to advance within their location and beyond
  • Promotes a team building and cooperative work environment that maximizes productivity and morale
  • Fosters an environment of inclusion and unity at all levels
  • Works with the Director of Operations and their management team to ensure timely hiring and development of seasonal staff to meet business requirements
  • Recognizes and celebrates individuals and work groups who exceed expectations
  • Focuses on people development and uses all the development tools available
  • Responsible for execution of Manager and staff training
  • Remains focused on instilling a guest-first mentality through a “lead by example” approach
  • Reinforces to staff and managers the importance of creating guest loyalty
  • Maintains and nourishes a positive relationship with the management team
  • Ensures clear lines of communication and respect exist between Front of House and Back of House operations
  • Carries, communicates and embodies the company culture
  • Collaborates with the Director of Operations to develop strategies to achieve maximum sales growth and cost controls
  • Ensures complete compliance with all aspects of financial controls and ensures their location is proactively measuring all financial matters including, but not limited to, cost of goods sold, labor, and supplies
  • Reviews manager reports with Director of Operations and communicates findings to the management team
  • Participates in seasonal menu pricing decisions that maximizes profit and takes into account the guests perceived value
  • Uses sales forecasting to help their location budget weekly, monthly and quarterly expenses to meet operational goals
  • Accountable for meeting all deadlines, protocols, and policies and procedures
  • Ensures execution of innovative and creative ideas that drive incremental sales and organic growth
  • Meets with Director of Operations on a weekly basis
  • Is required to participate in monthly General Manager meetings, HR seminars, operational workshops, events, etc
  • Defines and reinforces expectations for managers and staff
  • Holds managers and staff accountable to expectations and standards
  • Ensures their location is properly using and maintaining all operational systems including but not limited to: POS systems, schedules, Menulink, Five Stars, gift card processing, and payroll processing
  • Works with the Director of Operations and HR department to handle sensitive personnel issues
  • Maintains a strong managerial floor presence during critical service hours
  • Fully understands and complies with all federal, state, county and municipal regulations that pertain to health, safety and labor requirements of the location, employees and guests
  • Ensures all marketing initiatives are understood and properly executed at their location

Position Requirements

  • Must be an organized, dedicated and passionate hospitality professional
  • Will possess a minimum of 3-5 years of current experience as a  Restaurant General Manager
  • Must possess the ability to successfully communicate ideas from operational strategies to people related topics.
  • Prioritization, self-discipline and the ability to remain focused and on schedule is a must.
  • Must not only be a good leader, but understand and have the ability to coach sound leadership, financial, and operational principles.
  • Must have the capacity to quickly learn and master complex operating systems with the expressed goal of having the ability to monitor and teach these systems.
  • Must be a willing ambassador for the brand with an emphasis on diligent stewardship of the restaurant's culture.
  • The ideal candidate must be forward thinking, empathetic but tough when needed.
  • This candidate will not only be a consummate professional, but someone who understands and embraces the core values of the company
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Excellent job tenure- no more than 3 to 4 jobs in 10 years
  • ServSafe or Food Safety Certification required
