Position Overview & Responsibilities

The Production Supervisor position is responsible for assigned manufacturing processes in the plant. This position is responsible for reporting of all KPI’s, production & labor reporting as well as assigned projects. Must lead, motivate and provide resources and knowledge to process work teams and assure that products are manufactured in a cost efficient and timely manner while following strict EH&S and quality standards. Must keep all machinery updated and in running condition.
  • Responsible to ensure that the teams within the production cell meet goals for quality, productivity, and safety.
  • Responsible for meeting continuous improvement objectives and ensuring that operators are well trained.
  • Proactively take actions to minimize scrap, spoilage, customer returns, and direct teams to ensure that quality indicators and requirements are tracked and up to date.
  • Audit standards, update shift production targets, ensure service functions do not impact shift productivity
  • Lead and direct teams to ensure proper line balancing and take appropriate action to meet daily and weekly business needs
  • Expected to identify training gaps of individual operators and utilize SPL’s (Single Point Lessons) to close these gaps.
  • Prepare and lead daily Shift production meetings.
  • Facilitate real-time root cause problem solving and ensure escalation protocols are followed.
  • Coach and counsel teams through accountability matrix, motivate team to achieve goals, ensure effective team communication, and provide direction with team roles.
  • Assist management in assessing individual and team performance and development.
  • Support and champion business decisions.
  • Direct individuals and/or teams regarding immediate actions when necessary to meet Safety, Quality, or Productivity measures.
  • Coach the work force to ensure effective long-term improvements are implemented and sustained.
  • May recommend and implement disciplinary action
  • Function as a key communicator which includes all internal communications regarding critical issues impacting the department's performance.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Position Requirements

  • Demonstrated leadership ability to drive improvement and meet productivity expectations. Ability to hold others accountable and to effectively direct the activity of others. Must communicate effectively (verbally and written) and be a leader who is an active participant for positive change. Basic computer skills (primarily email and Microsoft Office)
  •  3-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing supervisory role. Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports. Ability to speak English and Spanish effectively to management and employees of organization.
  • Analytical skills as required.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, business analysis and strategic planning
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and walk. The employee must frequently lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.
