Client OverviewUnion County, NJ restaurateur, who currently has a standalone building, is in the process of designing a new concept to serve the surrounding community. The current concept has flourished for more than 17 years at this high traffic location. The current owner is seeking an Executive Chef who is interested in starting a unique restaurant concept. There will also be potential for an ownership interest in the business as well. The new design will be more of an upscale casual dining concept with a large bar and seating on the first floor for approximately 175 patrons. The main floor will be a light, open and airy space with windows that open out in nicer weather and allow potential diners a look into the dining rooms and bar areas. Downstairs will have a full bar and space for intimate parties or an upscale cocktail lounge with seating for another 80 patrons.

Position Overview & Responsibilities

  • The Executive Chef is responsible for the overall success of the dining aspect of the restaurant including menu design, food inventory and cost, kitchen staff, cleanliness, kitchen equipment, front of the house employee relations and customer satisfaction.
  • The Executive Chef will control all aspects of the menu from creation, food cost, food preparation and daily plating including training line cooks and following up to ensure the accuracy of recipes and line cook adherence to quality, portion control and plate appearance.

Position Requirements

  • The candidate should have a culinary school background
  • Minimum of 15 years working in restaurant kitchen’s
  • Minimum of 5 years of Executive Chef experience
  • Experience in menu design preferred
