Position Overview & Responsibilities

Patrice & Associates has partnered with a small but growing organization who is a leading supplier of architectural metals, ornamental components, gate hardware and finishes. This company strives to be the premier source for ornamental and architectural metals for the building trades, the design community and the consumer by offering quality products at competitive prices, quick response time along with product education. They represent over 25 premier manufacturers, and its products are used in diverse applications ranging from railings, driveway gates, walkway gates, fences, window guards, furniture, signs, etc. Many items are stocked in the company's warehouse in Plainfield, NJ for immediate shipment or pick-up and the rest are available as a special order or shipped within a few days. They place a heavy emphasis on excellent customer service, and looks to hire people who are committed to exceeding customer’s expectations on all projects big and small. The Accounting Clerk is responsible for keeping financial records updated, preparing reports, reconciling bank statements, running accounting software programs to process business transactions, and handling accounts payable and receivable. The successful Accounting Clerk will have good communication skills and work as a team player, and will communicate and partner with office and warehouse staff, vendors, manufacturers and customers. This position is part-time, and offers a flexible schedule within the daytime hours Monday – Friday between 20-25 hours per week, with the opportunity to potentially move into a full-time position and take on additional related responsibilities as the company continues to grow.
  • Review Accounts Receivable statement biweekly and reach out to customers with past due invoices
  • Book cash receipts, checks and cash payments
  • Enter approved Accounts Payable invoices into accounting system; Post payments
  • Read General Ledger and reconcile GL accounts
  • Match freight invoices to BOL
  • Reach out to vendors for incorrect/missing invoices

Position Requirements

  • Basic bookkeeping and/or accounting knowledge
  • Minimum of 1-2 years experience in bookkeeping, accounting, accounts payable, or accounts receivable
  • Experience working with Sage ERP, Quickbooks, or other ERP/accounting packages
  • Basic computer, email and internet skills
  • Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Bilingual Spanish a plus
  • Must have good organizational skills, ability to multi-task, detail-oriented and be a quick learner
