Many times I’ve been shopping and had the clerk look at me strangely when I paid my bill in cash. Better yet, buy an expensive item and put $5K cash on the counter and people think you are a drug dealer! It says something about our country when cash is the exception not the norm…and our National Debt is up to what now!

Don’t even try to pay with too large a bill either because many places won’t take $100 or even a $50 bill. I don’t know why people encourage you to use plastic when they have to pay a fee – don’t they know they make more profit when customers pay in cash.

I heard they were try to pull all the pennies from use. Which of course means we will pay more for everything because costs will be rounded up.

Every department store you go in wants you to fill out an application for their credit card and will give you a discount on your current purchase just to complete the form. It’s like they are trying to get away from money all togther.

People should think about this. There’s a reason they want us to use plastic. When you pay your bills online, get tickets in the mail for running a red light, give out your banking info for ach deposits and people run reports on your activity to know who you are, what you buy, how much you make and where you live. And we have allowed this to happen. So don’t act surprised.

Actually I agree with everyone which is why I found this video to be so ironic. We should be able to pay for anything with any form of legal currency. It’s funny too, because if you give a waiter or waitress a $5 bill as a tip for breakfast they are happy. But if you left the same amount in pennies they would be insulted.

I was at a restaurant yesterday that only took cash. It was in Boulder Colorado and everyone seemed to be OK with it. They did have an ATM which would produce revenue while not having to pay thousands in credit card discounts. I would not agree with this policy except these savings reflected in GREAT prices. I felt like I recieved value and the business wasn’t at the mercy of the banks

I think this is hilarious! I agree with Randy, merchants pay fees to the credit card companies to accept them. They would save money!

I still roll up my change. I don’t take it to retailers, I take it to the bank and get cold hard cash! I bet they would have accepted it if it was rolled up. How heavy was that bag? LOL!

Randy is right. I paid with a $50 at a gas station for about $3.00 worth of stuff and I got $45 back in $5′s. They put all thier big bills in a safe. I don’t care it all spends the same, but it’s like they don’t expect to be paid in big bills anymore.

Save your change! Teach the importance of a penny to your kids! My son just counted up his piggy bank money and had $64! In this economy, change does count.

How hard is it to take the penny’s to the bank and drop them in the machine and convert them to cash. Its a free service. If you can lug them into a restaurant, you might as well lug them into the bank so the next person doesn’t have to. Just a thought.

Funny video. I try to use exact change when I can.

If the restaurant doesnt want the pennies, I’ll take them. It is a little crazy considering almost every grocery store has a coinstar machine – but bottom line money is money.
